Hong Kong
Government Loan, 1933.
On the resumption or Civil Government on the
1st of May 1946, certain a ssets and liabilities were taken
over by the Hong Kong Government and were incorporated in
the Accountant General's accounts, either as opening
balances at that date or as payments and receipts during the
eleven months covered by this Account.
8. In all, assets to a total value of £ 92,080,631.93,
and liabilities to a total value of ₫ 88,112,362.30 were
recorded by the Accountant General as having been taken over
from the following sources:-
(1) certain assets to a value of 83,230,631.93 and
liabilities to a value of $ 76,624,295.73 held by the Hong
Kong London Accounts Office at the 30th of April 1946 (part
of those shown in the Balance Sheet at Appendix 5 to the
Finance Report).
(ii) certain local assets to a value of $1,375,000 and
liabilities to a value of £4,011,066.57 held by the British
Military Administration in Hong kong at the 30th of April 1946,
which, I understand, became the responsibility of the Civil
Government in accordance with arrangements made between the
War Office, the Colonial Office and His Majesty's Government.
(111) certain local assets to a value of 7,475,000 and
liabilities to a value of 7,477,000 which had, apparently,
been in existence at the 25th of December 1941 (as detailed in
Appendix 7 to the Finance Report).
